Michelle Ono – Event Belle
Like many of our students, Michelle had been working for a number of years in an ‘event related’ role. In her case she was managing an entertainment venue. We see this a lot…really capable, hard-working, talented individuals working in venues, in hospitality, as PA’s etc and wanting further progression in their careers and not knowing where to turn. They then realise that event management is a logical solution as they have already developed so many related skills eg people management, organisation and problem-solving within a super fast-paced environment.
Michelle loved the idea of “working with people in an ever-changing industry” but realised that while her existing skills were fantastic, she needed more knowledge, more specific practical skills and some pretty great industry connections to move her career to the next level. Michelle found that a Diploma qualification could give her those magic ingredients. Michelle chose to study at College of Event Management because of the college’s long list of established industry contacts.
Michelle was a standout from the beginning and proved to be proactive in her career advancement.
I approached the Industry Engagement Coordinator and asked if there were any opportunities for internships within an agency. She came back to me within a matter of days with details for an interview with Belle Laide Events.”
The rest is history. Michelle completed her internship and her qualification and was offered a full time role with BLE. Since joining then, she has since gone on to work on some incredible projects.
BLE has given me the opportunity to work on a variety of events such as stand activations at large-scale conferences, a roadshow for a finance company’s end of year client events, large cocktail parties, product launches etc.”
Michelle continues to shine and has recently been promoted from Event Coordinator to Event Manager! Career change complete!
